Next we'll be hearing, "it was not astrology. It was astrophysics!"

re "denial" & that link, did you notice at the end: "And, the benefits of higher productivity are being passed on to consumers in the form of lower prices."

I guess that's true, I mean I can get a 2 litre bottle of Coke for $1.19. They must have really worked out the productivity curve on that one. The 20oz bottles on the other hand, must represent one of America's great productivity crisis - they want $1.09 for it (my local store just rounds it to $1.10 & places it next to the 2litre bottles labeled $1.19 - don't ask why they didn't round that). I have a great suggestion for Coke that will actually increase their profit while providing less product. My suggestion is putting the 12oz cans (who wants to drink 20oz of soda to quench a quick thirst anyway?) back in the machines and sneakily asking 75 cents for them. You see the consumer would think they're getting a bargain, when in fact they'll be paying 10 cents more than the 20oz for 1.09 rate. $1.09 for 20oz is 5.45 cents/oz, so 12oz times 5.45 cents/oz is about 65 cents per can at the same profit margin, but ask them 75 cents for it and Coke pockets another dime! The productivity gains we hear about giving us more for less seemed to have escaped Coke's 20oz bottle. Come on Coke, get with the program and be a good productive American ;-)
