you're welcome, gottfried. i want the floppy check there so all my darn emergency boot disks will work in the event of a hd crash. but i'm thinking if the check is disabled, maybe that will solve that fellow's strange icon problem. i hope so. as for cheaper memory, a just bought a 32mb stick for a friend for her dell 166. several months ago we priced it at about $110. i just paid about $60. i haven't bought anything for myself recently, so it was fun to order stuff online even though it wasn't for me. <g3> :) mark
