Vince,

what IYO is the absolute earliest we could see Willy for sale?

All we heard was 2H 2000. My guess would be September, just to muddy the waters for Thunderbird in a pre-Christmas period. I bet Intel would love to see a headline "Intel recaptures the performance crown", hoping that it will help sell more of the 650 to 733 MHz Coppermines, until Willy can be delivered in large quantities.

But if you were in shoes of Intel management, wouldn't you want to throw a lot of fab space at Willy, as soon as possible (meaning Q4), to stop the Coppermine bleeding?

Joe

I think that the schedule laid out by Intel is quite reasonable. Limited production toward the end of Q4 seems believable. There is a very long qualification process required to bring up a new architecture, and it would be rather risky for Intel to try to speed it up.

But then again, they are getting desperate.
