I really don't know what experiences have alarmed you, but I will take a look at the sites you mention. I was about to sign off, and so I will get back to it later in the weekend. Meanwhile, I personally know of no conspiracy against you, and I tend to doubt there is one.......

Who is this Karl person of whom you are suspicious?

Are you really receiving threats? By e-mail? Some other site? SI?

Terrorizing you with information you have posted here on SI? Are you sure that you have posted this information nowhere else?

This is all very strange, because I was up late last night listening to the "Art Bell" program, and some guy was on from vortex.com
talking about how all of this obsession we know have with computers, E-Mail, the web, etc, etc, is coming back to "haunt us" by compromising our privacy and even our financial security.
But Amanda, I think that the CNBC stuff was just synchronicity, and no one is "out to get you".....
Having said that, we all should still be on guard for the increasing intrusion into our private information and lives, because that is not what America is supposed to be all about..... Yogi

I read the Bluetooth story, and the corporate pitch, and find it all somewhat opaque. As best I can make out, some nerds who were into sword- and- sorcery stuff about as much as high tech thought it would be neat-o to name their technology after the great Viking king who united all of Scandinavia, because they fancy themselves conquerors who will integrate technologies. If there is any bearing on your speculations, it has to do with the use of connective devices not requiring cable. However, I am not sure about that, and if I had just read the story, as you asked, I would not know enough to conjecture even that..........

I just glanced at die.net. Since the possibility of hackers disturbing one's stuff has long been a concern (I just downloaded some security stuff from Microsoft to guard against hackers, this weekend), I am not sure what sent you around the bend.......
