Venke,

If that's the case why are you spending your valuable time here on the CMGI thread? Sounds like an obvious agenda like shorting the stock and trying to influence other investors to get out, even though you have named some great alternatives. Those that have been been long for over a year know that trying to time CMGI's huge spikes has proven to be fruitless so it pays to be long even if it seems to under perform for long periods of time.

Just my 2 cents.

Steve

Venke --
To each his own -- you may be right.

If we look back at the past 5 years, CMGI had good relative strength only for short periods of time.

1. That's like saying, "gee that volcano really only causes a problem for such a relatively short period of time..." Yeah, but when she explodes....!

2. Your comment prefectly undercuts your argument that you should move your money elsewhere. It indicates precisely why, if you're looking for market-beating gains, you should be invested. Because you don't know when it will go on one of its dominant rampages... They're short and fearsome...

You could be right but I'm not completely convinced.
What would be your time horizon?

Also you write: "If we look back at the past 5 years, CMGI had good relative strength only for short periods of time."
It also brings a question to my mind. Since CMGI has been one of the top performing stocks over the last five years then it must have rather violent upturns at times. Perhaps like a step function? In any case, analogous to your good relative strength for only a short periods of time statement.

CMGI falls into a class of stocks where the danger is not in being in the stock but in not being in it. With a Beta > 2, I would think that the type of price volatility exhibited by CMGI would not be a surprise to you. I own CMGI, BRCM I have positions in PMCS and some of the others that you list. I fail to see the mutual exclusive nature of your argument. Now may in fact be just the right time to stick with CMGI.

This is why I ask in the beginning for your time horizon.

Regards,
