Steve, This bickering among Christians has bothered me ever since I first came on the threads and got involved in Christian discussion. I am completely puzzled as to what can be done about it. Almost ever issue of contention has been over denominational details, and teachings. Denominations, any of them, have taken the words of the Bible and altered, or re-interpreted, them to suit a particular human agenda. We don't need that sort of tampering. Everything a Christian needs is in the Bible. All the rules, regulations, rituals, benefits, and penalties are listed there for anyone to read. The entire problem plaguing Christianity, IMO, is human interference with the Holy Word of God.

Without trying to start up other disputes, I have to agree that feuds among Christians do appear to be very silly to those who can see no reason for believing in Christ. The disagreements among self-professed Christians are in my opinion the strongest evidence that Christianity is simply a form of insanity. If there really anything objective in Christianity, it would be reasonable for those who believed to agree. Perhaps they could develop some way of determining what Christianity actually involved. But from the very start of Christianity, people have disagreed about almost everything. Did Christians have to be circumcized (i.e. Jews)? James, the brother of the Lord thought so and tried to live as the Jew he was. Paul thought not. So Christians have always disagreed. Whenever one sect could coerce the rest, they have done so, burned them at the stake or exiled them. Now in most civilized countries, Christians are tolerated as usually harmless lunatics but are not permitted to impose their prejudices on other people or kill others who do not reach their standards.
I come every once and a while to this thread to watch the inmates hurling abuse at each other. It is not a pretty sight to watch a superstition tearing itself apart.
