Oki, Cisco Japan unit to tie up on Net business

TOKYO, April 10 (Reuters) - Oki Electric Industry Co Ltd , a major Japanese communications equipment maker, and a Japanese unit of Cisco Systems Inc (NasdaqNM:CSCO - news), the world's largest maker of Internet networking equipment, said on Monday they have agreed to cooperate in the Voice over IP (VoIP) business.

Oki and Cisco Systems K.K. aim to expand their VoIP service for corporate clients in Japan, and will hold a news conference at 0430 GMT to announce details of the alliance.

VoIP service enables users to communicate by voice over the Internet.

Last May the two companies agreed to collaborate in selling Internet network services to telecommunication companies.
