Bookham uses a very high temperature environment during processing its chips. Their process involves much, much higher temperatures. As Lumenon's web site notes: lumenon.com ****************************************************** The fact that sol-gel processing produces a glass simply by spinning or dipping a coating process and baking at a relatively low temperature takes it beyond the more common flame hydrolysis deposition (FHD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes. The result combines the attractive features of organic polymers with those of a silica network.
