Drew,
Hi!!

HOW MANY MORE DELL SPLITS?

Do I do this in sequential order Drew? or do I attempt this chronologically backwards? :o) Let's try the first piece of this math situation and go from there...I'm writing you since you are the VP math guy sitting in your perch high up on the umpteenth floor there at Monteverde Hospital doing all the financial statements... :o)

FIRST EVIDENCE:
June 1999 I got into a private message exchange with Bill Fleckenstein...After going through some public ones...I'm sure it wont' surprise you to know that I attempted to convert him...Guess I failed huh? :o) Anyhow, "SOMEONE" found out that I was doing this and responded to a prediction I made to Bill...

SECOND EVIDENCE:
August 1999 before the Gartner Group Michael Dell projects an estimate on DELL's market share "GOING OUT A NUMBER OF YEARS."

THIRD EVIDENCE:
Thursday April 6th 2000 from new CFO Schneider:

Dell executives defined for analysts and investors an "extended" market that includes computer hardware, services and Internet hosting jobs valued at about $1
trillion by 2003. Chief Financial Officer Schnieder said Dell currently holds about 3% of that overall market. But, he added, "if you could imagine Dell having just
10% of this extended market (by 2003), what will Dell look like? I'll leave that for you to ponder."

Below Drew are two of the links supporting the first two pieces of evidence of this prediction from DELL management:

Message 11510866
Message 11532750

And, Drew I may also remind you that Tom Meredith and I were chatting prior to the shareholders meeting (we actually attended high schools that were only separated by a hospital during the same time period...Monsignor Bonner and Upper Darby)..And, during this "unknown reunion" I made some remarks that DELL was attempting to move here; do this; push that; change into this unbeknownst to; etc...etc... Well, Tom paused...Looked me in the eyes smiling and said: "Kemble, you're right...What most folks haven't figured out yet is DELL is just getting started in here"...

I'd say that the new CFO hasn't missed a cue here...Schneider is focused right on the same predictions...

Ignoring the historical DELL "underestimating and then overachieving"...

1. What % of market share would you predict for DELL by 2003?
2. What will be their revenue by 2003?
3. How many splits by 2003?

or if you prefer let's go after what you and I were discussing Friday night IM

I say by 2005 we are 50% world market and $200 billion...

"AT NO TIME IN OUR HISTORY HAS DELL'S BUSINESS MODEL ADVANTAGE BEEN MORE POWERFUL OR APPLICABLE!" Jan 1, 2000

How many splits Drew??

Best, Kemble

Drew Re positive comments
Stock splits.
Five (somewhat related)companies have split a total of 36 times:
csco 9
msft 8
orcl 7
dell 7
intc 5
Average co. stock price increase last 12 mos=~ 142%
Average time between recent splits= ~10.2 months
Average price at split ~ 130 , low 80,88 highs 140,180
Business outlook for these cos- Fantastic( Intc going to spend $6 bil for fabs)
Conclusion:
Dell will split 2 times by yr 2002
When? Price to low for a May split. August has some chance. November maybe 50/50. But a big deal ( to make computers for another company like IBM) could move the stock up instantly.
Seems reasonable to predict a split after Nov, before
March 2001. There would be some incentive to try to get one in year 2000( so we don't miss a year) hahaha
BTW , INTC at $136 means its probably going to consider a split > look for one at earnings time.
Dell earnings date now on calendar as May 11 th atc.

Drew, Normally I would expect GTW to report in late April.

Here are 2 links showing GTW reporting Thursday, 5 days before Intel.
