Eric, to turn the puzzle of DS/CDMA2000, 3GPP/3GPP2/OHG on its head, a bit: do you see as a plausible explanation for the apparent inching toward DS as a standard for some carriers (at least that's the way Tero would see it) because, or precisely because, there is a greater likelihood of interoperability? Putting the postulate a different way, in technical terms rather than standards bodies: is DS now a "safer" bet for the carriers because the differences between it and CDMA2000 are fewer than might have been imagined at the outset of 1999? Or is this a cry of the faithful against a distasteful reality? Note that I am not willing to concede Tero's view. Not unless and until engineer, Clark, w (who seems already part way there), Vman, Michael, Bux, et al are willing to. To me, there is still too much that is caked and shrouded in the political games. Unfortunately, Samanranch and his ilk are still in office. Steve
