RE: ADBE

I might add that the company passed the $1 Billion revenue mark this past year, it's EPS doubled, and since February, the stock has been on a tear...12 months it's a 5-bagger! Got smacked on Tuesday, but it's now at an all time high!
$15 bil market cap....GG territory!

Chaz,

Surely [Adobe] is a strong king.

I'm confident that their Acrobat product is a classic example of a proprietary, open architecture. My guess is that the costs of switching are on the low side, that if a significant competitor came along an adopter might choose to use Acrobat and the competitor's product at the same time, especially if the adopter's publication is distributed to consumers on the Internet.

Their PhotoShop product is also proprietary and open. Costs of switching are probably at the lowest of the low range.
