One last comment Macromedia vs Adobe.

Flash will be integrated with WAP and in my opinion will be a great tool for designing WML sites.

RE:Adobe as King,
How does Corel fit in as a graphics app? It appears to be the only one available on Linux as well as windows platforms.

Thanks for the insights into the graphics market, Doren. I'm glad to find that even professionals find mastering Photoshop a challenge. I've used it for a few years and figure I'm tapping about 10% of its potential. Imo, the switching costs are much higher than the cost of a replacement program; after investing hundreds of hours in (superficially) mastering it, I would be loathe to switch, even for a superior freebie program.

Doren

Thanks for the informative post on Adobe.

Adobe's rise can be traced back to the acceptance of
its PostScript language which erased the distinction
between text and graphics. PostScript became the de facto
standard printer language, and Adbode the Gorilla.
From postscript, we got Type-1 & ATM (and got to witness
a Gorilla battle between Adobe and Microsoft), then Acrobat
which is a great way to publish on the web. The PDF
is yet to be challenged and will be very hard to dislodge.

I don't know much about image manipulation products. But I
do wish there was a simpler alternative to Photoslop: I'd
switch in the blink of an eye. (I am not a professional).
