This actually is *not* such a bad thing ... if you notice, many of the features that White Pine provides are on the *server* side ...

They are somewhat right about the clients ... although I prefer the WPNE client software ... the best part of the article is the paragraph that you provided:

So as you can see, it is WPNE that provides the server side that enables a *lot* of functionality ...

And now that they are moving into the hosting arena, they might end up being a very dominant server/service platform ...
