That is the accepted rote, but if you accept that entropy began the moment of the Big Bang, and that complexities developed as energy deteriorated into matter and matter deteriorated into different elements (as in the entropy that occurs within a star as the stages become more complex until in its death throes it divests itself of much of the matter), then you will see that entropy truly begets complexity leading to the Chaos Theory of which this thread is already familiar from the many debates on that.

No, entropy is a characteristic of energy in all systems. In some open systems, entropy can decrease, i.e. the deck of cards can be sorted into suits. In closed systems, entropy is a measure of disorder, which according to the 2d Law is "always tending to a maximum." The amount of energy and matter in a closed system never changes under the 1st Law -- energy or matter can neither be created nor destroyed."
