So then as I see it you believe in God but if it turned out not to be true you would accept it, and move on? I really don't see the point of such belief, why believe at all?- and many people I meet wouldn't abandon their belief in God no matter what (or so they say).

Of course if it gives comfort to have a conditional belief in God more power to you, but I don't see that kind of conditionality in most believers.
