Scumbria, I checked with a few coworkers regarding Tom's overclocked 440BX tests, and they confirmed that those tests are bull. I'm sure Tom loves stirring up controversy, but that overclocked 440BX platform is hardly stable enough to be considered valid. And it's not just the overclocked AGP that makes it unstable, either.

Besides, Tom's Hardware Guide has been taking a tabloid "YUK Register" tone lately. It's getting to a point where I can't even trust Tom's quantitative results anymore, much less his subjectiveness.

from the article:
". Most computers sold today with RDRAM do not contain this speed because of production problems that continue to plague RDRAM manufacturers. Most of the RDRAM based computer systems sold so far contain the slower PC700. In our tests, this slower RDRAM consistently and considerably degraded system performance causing them to lag even further behind the SDRAM based 440BX system"

That is not true. I can't even find RDRAM 700 anywhere. All DELLs and memory suppliers I've checked only sell RDRAM 800. It seems like the people that were doing these tests were not pros and did not configure the Rambus system optimaly. I dare them to do their tests again against a Rambus Dell workstation.
