The supermontage seeks to link scattered markets created by Reuters Group Plc's Instinet Corp and the eight other low-cost electronic trading networks. It would have dealers' screens list the three best buy and sell quotes for any stock, instead of just one, and would list quotes from Nasdaq dealers and the electronic networks. Dealers and investors now must search for the best prices among the different networks.

What does this gobeldygook mean. I can already SNET preference any ECN I want. Its hard to believe, but there must be people who can't, but I think its more a matter of people that won't. With regard to the "search" for the best quote and showing the 3 best inside quotes---Level II already does this so this makes no sense. If they are talking about making Level I quotes show some depth thats fine with me. This stuff seems to be trying to help people that are too cheap to pay for a direct order entry broker and Nasdaq Level II quotes. I already stated my mind on the order flow fragmentation--the real problem.
