Evening lindelgs,

RE:..wouldn't setting a stop limit give protection?

My understanding on the stop losses that makes me skittish about them is that using my previous example of stock at 80 with a stop loss at 72. (1) What happens when the market opens and the stock is down 15 to 20 off the bat? and (2) what if you have a sudden drop that triggers the stop but the volume of sells is so great that your stop is not filled for even a few minutes. The stop does NOT guarantee that your stock will be sold at 72 only that the sell is triggered. It might go off at 70,65 or??? In these cases they don't seem to be as goof proof as we would like.

If I am missing something here anyone feel free to enlighten me.

Joel
