Here is some contrary opinion on AMD, fresh of the press :)

tigerinvestor.com;

Mani,

Whoa....you ain't kidding.....very, very contrarian and very plausible. The only thing I take issue on is the earnings warning in 9/00.....I think its too early in his scenario....more likely 1/01.

Nice find.....keeps the perspective balanced.

Mani - RE: "Here is some contrary opinion on AMD, fresh of the press"

The only person crying wolf is the author of that article.

Most of his article is about what HAS ALREADY happened, not on what may happen this year. He is clueless about T-Bird, Spitfire, Mustang, Willamette, and Foster. He seems to think AMD ONLY makes microprocessors. He is oblivious to the many reports saying the semiconductor cycle is starting up again and should last a couple of years.

I think the article provided a brief history of AMD, but it doesn't have enough meat in it to come up with his prediction-

"Prediction: AMD's stock will plummet on an earnings warning in September, 2000."

This guy is just making a rash, wild a$$ prediction hoping he is correct so he can brag about it. He previously predicted AMD would never cross $45 because he thought profit margins would be squeezed...

This article he refers to in the beginning tigerinvestor.com is better in that it discusses the things coming out this year, but it also has quite a few inaccuracies.

Based on what I've read in these two articles, I hope this site doesn't hope it can influence investors choices because what they write should be taken as informative entertainment at best.
