I'm sure Intel is willing to drop RDRAM in a heartbeat should it turn out to be the dud that Tom Pabst claims it to be.

Given the huge investment that Intel has in Rambus, I'm not so certain about that. It would be very difficult for Intel to change their path at this point in time.

And Tom has a lot of loyal followers.

Tom's followers would probably not buy an Intel-based system or RDRAM for any reason. The PR from Tom's site is a mote compared to the PR from the regular trade press (like the PC Magazine benchmarks).

p.s. Ali, still no comment from you on the PC Magazine benchmarks that showed the Dell PIII/RDRAM system winning 15 out of the 16 benchmark tests (versus Athlon/SDRAM systems) that they ran. I thought you said you wanted unbiased benchmarks -- well there they are.
