They were even dense enough to put DRDRAM on Timna. Intel has become much too top heavy to stop a nimble competitor like AMD.

Scumbria,

Maybe but I find it hard to believe that they are that stupid. I hope you are right.

Re: "so long as they continue to screw up AMD will be okay. But seriously, how much longer do you think that will happen? And I don't mean that question rhetorically."

Comment: Seems to mean the Intel screwups surfaced in October 1999 when it became apparent that the tired and worn PWeeIII was going to be eating the young champion Athy's dust in the very near term...There is nothing on my radar screen that suggests that the performance gap between the youthful Athy and the aging PWeeIII has done anything but increase since October,a trend that looks to be extendable throughout Y2000, particularly when price is factored in any all-in comparably configured systems...

What I am saying is that Intel scewups are a direct result of the pressure brought to bear by the Athy...There is nothing to indicate anything but relentess and ongoing pressure by Athy throughout Y2000...Hence look for additional Intel screwups throughout Y2000 as the Athy dust that the PweeIII eats chokes it out of the race!
