Band-Ore processes microdiamond recovery in Wawa Band-Ore Resources Ltd BAN Shares issued 23,633,225 Apr 10 close $1.08 Tue 11 Apr 2000 News Release Mr. Wayne O'Connor reports Two additional samples, from the GQ property located 15 kilometres north of Wawa, Ont., have been processed for microdiamond recovery. The latest results now indicate the presence of diamonds over a 100-metre area. Of the two new samples taken, the first sample was taken 75 metres northwest of the original diamond discovery, refer to press release dated Feb. 10, 2000, and the second was taken 25 metres southeast of the original discovery. The northern sample yielded three macrodiamonds (diamonds with one dimension measuring greater than 0.5 of a millimetre) and 48 microdiamonds (diamonds will all dimensions less than 0.5 of a millimetre) from a 33.8-kilogram sample. The largest macrodiamond measured 0.83 of a millimetre by 0.51 of a millimetre by 0.41 of a millimetre. The majority of the diamonds were identified as white and transparent. The southern sample yielded two macrodiamonds and four microdiamonds from a 44-kilogram sample. The largest stone measured 0.66 of a millimetre by 0.57 of a millimetre by 0.36 of a millimetre. These stones were described as white and transparent. The samples were taken by Band-Ore's qualified personnel. Lakefield Research Laboratories, a laboratory specializing in the recovery of diamonds, processed both samples. The original discovery sample yielded 10 macrodiamonds and 35 microdiamonds from a 63.4-kilogram sample. A confirmation sample from the same area yielded 98 microdiamonds from a 54.6-kilogram sample, refer to press releases dated Feb. 10 and Feb. 22, 2000. To date, 200 diamonds have been recovered from 196 kilograms of outcrop material. The property has year-round road access and is located close to infrastructure. "We are very encouraged with the diamond results at such an early stage in the exploration program," stated Band-Ore president, Wayne O'Connor. "We are eager to begin the stripping programs and the investigation of over 30 priority targets." (c) Copyright 2000 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com
