Clarification on the IDTI convertible bonds:

I spoke with my broker this morning and there's no time value to worry about with these bonds because they are currently convertible into stock. The coversion ratio is 34.935, so divide the current price of the convertible by the conversion ratio to get the conversion price.

On the call date, you can either convert to get the full value of your gain. If you don't convert, the company retires your bonds at par at the end of the day.

Or you can sell the bonds at market a few days before.

The price of the stock and the convertible are linked, so as long as the stock stays up the convertible stays up too. So if you continue to hold the converts, your only worry is whether the stock price will drop. It's a matter of weighing IDTI's strong earnings against Fed rate hikes. The prime rate is now 9, but long term bonds are still low, so...

it's your call.

(Also, the longer you hold, the more interest you get.)

Regards,
Paula
