I see. I assumed you had hooked on to him via one of his books. Apparently he writes sci-fi-ish stuff. I must confess, I have read very few books of that sort. I should read more of the genre.

Philip K. Dick was a pretty fair sci-fi writer for the first half of his career. His readers were fans of the genre.

Then one day he claimed to have had a "visit" from some entity. I don't know if this visit manifested itself in the form of a bright light or if there was a physical creature there in the room with him, but he claims to have communicated with it. Thereafter his novels were always tied in with whatever it was that was communicated to him by his visitor. Most of his old readers left him, but he picked up a new batch of readers who thought he was some kind of prophet or channeler or something of that nature.
