Aus,
<<I truly believe that opportunities to buy SNDK in the $90 range will be few and far between after next Wednesday. I may even be so bold to say that we may never look back.>>
Never say never with respect to the fearsome beast Mr. Market. Always remember what it felt like in Oct 98. It was either a terrifying descent or a fantastic buying opportunity, depending on your cash position and your nerves. I agree, as you well know, that Sandisk's future is bright, but if Mr. Market takes a tumble below 3800 and stays there, then Sandisk's bright future will be in the future, as far as stock price is concerned. We will see the 70s again, and perhaps even worse, bargain though it may be. When I began paying attention to the market in the early 80s, the average PE on NYSE was, I think, between 6 and 7. It was a bargain, but people were trained by the recent past to be pessimistic, and believed that the market would stay in a trading range capped by something between 1000 and 1100 for a very long time to come. Experts--most experts--believed that. When John Templeton said that he believed that the Dow would rise to about 3000 sometime in the 80s, people looked at him like he was dotty. On public television (on Wall Street Week, to be exact--even Louis Ruykeyser gave a nervous laugh).

Never say never when it comes to Mr. Market. "Reason" has nothing to do with his swings, except in the long term. Just be careful out there.

Best wishes,
Sam

Ausdauer, re: "desperation". SNDK is just bouncing off its 200-day moving average. As soon at the NASD stabilizes, there is every reason to expect a renewed uptrend.

Patience is golden :-)
