I don't believe any more that MSFT will be broken apart as a company. Maybe some things will break off, but a total split I don't believe.

What Europe can do, is to ban or restrict import of MSFT products, unless they do as told by a european court. Today, europe is a larger market in head-count than the U.S., and with the eastern block associated to the European Union growing richer, Europe can become a more important market than the U.S. in the long run. MSFT has much to lose, if it loses dominance of the European market.
