Here is why Motorola's drop is good for AMD:

The decline in margins for its handset unit is the primary cause for Motorola's fall. Once of the reasons for the decline in margins is because of higher prices for components and component shortages due to demand outpacing supply that are expected to continue for the next 3 months (and who know how long thereafter). Can you say flash where AMD is the leader? Motorola's weakness signals AMD's strength.

Plus, Motorola's semiconductor sales increased 24% during the first quarter, despite not being able to produce sufficient yields on its high end chips for Apple. The semiconductor side is booming for Motorola and will be even greater for AMD.
