Mogul, Is that a 7 minute, 24 hour trade to capture the funds for the cheque you need to write next Monday or do you forsee a longer cleansing season? S. Korea to Advance Selection of IMT 2000 Providers -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2000/03/30(Thu) 18:20 Information and Communication Minister Ahn Byung-yub said yesterday his ministry would advance the selection of IMT-2000 providers ahead of schedule and form a new venture belt linking Songpa-lu, southeastern Seoul, with Songnam in Kyonggi-do Province. ``The ministry will decide the number of IMT-2000 providers, standardization policies and the selection process and accept applications from companies in September so that finalists can be selected by the end of the year,' he said in an interview with Yonhap, denying a rumor about the delay of the selection schedule. ``The government will try to pave the way to make a venture company belt between Songpa-ku in Seoul and Songnam in Kyonggi-do Province to alleviate high rents in Teheran Valley in southern Seoul,' he said. On the nation's prospects for advancing into the Chinese CDMA market, he said China must adopt the CDMA standard due to the surge of mobile phone demand and the high evaluation of Korean technology and experience. On the recent concern over the ``bubble" venture boom, Ahn said it was true that some venture companies had no technologies and short-term adverse effects on excessive speculation could arise, but those problems should be solved by the market rather than government intervention. The government will strengthen super high-speed Internet infrastructure this year to boost speeds to six times faster than last year, while implementing quality assessment on super high-speed Internet services from June. He urged Korean companies to make efforts to advance into China, where Internet use is surging, saying the English and Chinese languages will dominate the Internet in the future. Ahn also said he would meet the Israeli ambassador to strengthen cooperation with leading Israeli information technology companies. (Yonhap)
