<< Vicious?????I guess Clinton is gentle when he orders bombing of TV stations, trains, convoys, embassies in Kosovo??? Blinders off please. >>

No, Clinton showed himself to be a very strong leader by saving hundreds of thousands of innocent Kosovars from the brutal and savage Serbs forces. Good point!

<< She was stupid to follow that guy and it was criminal for putting her kid in such a danger! >>

Is it stupid to follow someone to freedom from slavery? Was it stupid for the East Germans to flee to freedom? Would you attempt to flee to freedom if your family was under a cruel dictatorship? Oh, don't worry about answering, you have already answered, that it was stupid.

<< These "relatives" did not rescue Elian, he was handed to them. >>

They have nursed Elian back to health and well being. Elian was pulled out of the water by Cuban brothers and friends. Why do you try to mislead by saying that he was "handed to them"? Won't your viewpoint stand on it's own merits?

<< Elian was taken against the father's wishes ... >>

Fortunately, many mothers risk their lives for the safety of their children. Thank God that Elian was taken from his father.

<< These relatives should be thrown in jail! >>

Why? Is it against the law to nurse a traumatized child back to health while his "absent" father, only 90 miles away, swills beer for 4 months?

If you feel that it IS against the law, perhaps I can understand while childcare is in such poor shape around the world.

You ignorant self-righteous Americans think you know best all the time . . .
Spare me the arguments about the evils of Castro and communism. Until you have been to Cuba and seen with your own eyes you have no clue what you are talking about and no right to have your opinions taken seriously.

I have been to Cuba, and while it may not be a "perfect" society, neither is the U.S. with kids taking guns to school and blowing each other away, and a history of racism which still limits many people. (No I am not a raving commie, just an open minded Canadian).

It is hypocritical to knock Cuba when the U.S. is quite happy to do business with China, which is arguably a much more repressive regime.

In any case my intention is not to engage in political debate but rather to point out the folly of justifying the political arguments that are being proposed on this board for keeping Elian in the US.

Forget all the politicall bullshit and let this boy be with his father.

Have your politcal arguments as much as you like but don't hold this boy captive to your uninformed views.

By the way, I also agree that Clinton was "vicious" in bombing TV stations and trains in Belgrade and Yugoslavia. That was totally unnecessary, and the Chinese embassy bombing was pathetic, and embarrassed Americans all over the world..... Yogi
