Good post, TLC but ...

RSI = 100 - [100/ (1+(U/D))

Where:

U = An average of upward price change.
D = An average of downward price change.

In short, just another flavor of a price-dependent oscillator.

And for that matter, notice the similar behavior of the momentum indicator:

Momentum = (Close/ref(Close,-10))*100

Where: ref(Close,-10) = The closing price 10 periods ago

Hell, MACD and Stochies should be grouped in this category, also.

It's a tough world out there...
