All the stupid batistiano jockeying for politically oriented propaganda brownie points has overshadowed another question here, that of equal rights regardless of gender. There's a tendency to see Juan Miguel as 'only the father' ... if you reverse the gender, and he had kidnapped Eli n to a leaky boat in following his criminal girlfriend du jour, and his mother was wanting Eli n released, you'd see wider and stronger support for her ... as a male, i resent that ... parent means parent, period ... viva la familia verdadera

I can't believe that this Elian issue is so important that Janet Reno is setting aside every important priority of our country, so that she can fly to Miami and do Fido Castro's bidding.
