She was a straight A math major in Russia. (But we met in Texas!)

You made my point. How many people (especially women) major in math in the US? How many of them are straight A students? If you land people like than on the moon, they would succeed.

A lot of Russians arrived in the US with money. Where could they have gotten it from?

I am not saying that there is no corruption. I am saying that it started under Gorbachev, and escalated out of control after he left. How many of these wealthy arrivals did you have in early 80s?

We have probably even a higher percentage of Russians in NYC, and I have worked with many of them, interviewed even more. Just about every one I know came poor.
