<<I found my using margin was similar to thinking that I had money in the bank if I had checks left in my check book. However after finishing the 12 step program I came off of margin 6 days ago and have been clean for 6 full days.>>

Dealer: I love your sense of humor....I have been off margin for over 6 months....Unfortunately I had to learn an expensive lesson during the sell-off we had in the Fall of 1997....In this volatile environment I prefer to operate without margin -- Yet, at times it is tempting to load up on a GREAT stock when its really on sale...;-)

Good luck with your recovery....Take it one day at a time and soon you'll love 'the margin-free feeling'...

Best Regards,

Scott

Hi Dealer! Thanks for the response.
I read your post when you first got off margin and was happy for you. I just can't liquidate enough to get off margin at these prices. My main stock (formerly known as my favorite), OMKT has dropped from $65 to $16. I had bought a bunch @$13 and then added all the way up to $52, but I just can't sell at $16.
If anyone has any knowledge on OMKT, ta, an opinion; or hell, I would settle for a wild assed guess, I would appreciate it.

My name is Danger and I`m --sniff,sniff- a margin abuser too. This is my first meeting and I really need you guys to help me. Boohoo. I just can`t seem to pass up what I percieve at the time of being bargains. I always say that I`ll sell off of it after the split run --or after earnings, but I never do.. I guess-- I`m too greedy? Boohoo. My mother never fed me enough when I was little. I`m sure that is it. Yeah-- that`s it. It`s all her fault. Well I feel a little better now, knowing that it`s not my fault.

Ready to give up Greed?
Danger

Hi Gang!
Well ever since this Naz debacle has moved onto the block I've decided to turn a blind eye and wait for the storm to pass. Since I know I have no control over the situation I resolved to preoccupy my time with things I can control: Improving the kids playground in the park across the street, gardening, painting, etc. (oh yeah, playing with the Bobcat being used in the park improvement! Moving earth & boulders, Now that's control!)

Although I still remain 100% invested (Big regret) I don't plan on giving the houses my well chosen stocks cheap! My stubborness has cost me dearly but I realize these events are rather temporary in the big scheme of things.

I wanted you all to know I have been lurking now and then but I didn't feel I have much to offer regarding market sentiment, so I've resisted posting. (I missed the story about JW, what's going on?) I'm still trying to clear my head of all this bull$hit so resisting the computer has helped.

I hope you are all well and I hope everyone is coping with the current situation in constructive ways.

No jumping out basement windows!

If anyone else out there owns ELON, PRGN, BHH, ICGE, or HLTH, PM me and we can lick our wounds together.
(QCOM, don't fail me now.)

I'm heading to Nantucket in two weeks for the Daffodil Festival. If you see me in a SI t-shirt be sure to tap me on the shoulder and say "Hi"

Sincerely missing you all, Tim

Good evening Dealer (and all of you out there in porchland)...

I've been hiding in my cave, trying to decompress from the week's debacle.I found that installing airbags on my notebook computer failed to stop the onslaught. I am presently installing Scopolamine patches on my touch pad to stop the dizzying rollercoaster. Imploding has not been fun.

If anything, this week(s) correction has been humbling/sobering. Some of you out there provided me with advice through PM and phone calls making me rethink my use of margin. Yes, I will join MA, if I can "borrow" that phrase (opps, did I use the word "borrow"?)

Anyway, I'm taking an hour break to watch the Soprano's. I remember watching Scarface with Al Pacino. I was inspired by that film. Made me want to go into that line, but I realized that they had lousy health benefits and not much of a pension fund. BTW, are knives deductable as office supplies or capital expenditures? What are the depreciation schedules for automatic weapons? Are there tax breaks for buying American machine guns as oppossed to imports? Are glassine envelopes considered stationary supplies?

I sure hope that tommorow will bring a siginificant turnaround. I'm still keeping my day job (sigh.........)

Oh yes, I forgot.... My name is David and I use Margin... (do they have a patch to wear, to wean you off margin, like "Margiderm")?

David
