Re: We have smaller and smaller number of wealthy individuals paying the entire cost of the government

Joe,
This is the last OT from me. I recently saw stats that the upper 50% of the population pays 96% of federal taxes while the bottom 50% pays only 4% of federal taxes.

Jozef, I completely agree with you.
The "Earned Income Tax Credit" removes both responsibility and involvement from people. The burden should be shared by all, even if the amount is actually symbolic.
Best of luck to all AMD longs,

We have smaller and smaller number of wealthy individuals paying the entire cost of the government. I don't think this experiment has been tried anywhere outside of third world countries. I think it is a dangerous course for a democratic country.

Joe,

That smaller number of wealthy individuals are doing okay. For the past 20-30 years, a greater proportion of this country's wealth has become concentrated within a smaller
group of people. In other words the rich are getting richer.

The only reason the middle class does not complain is because the quality of their lives has improved during that time span. If that were not the case, however, all hell would break lose.
