Well what do you know, someone agrees with me! One of the reason CSCO is not being more aggressive in the Optics space as far as acquisitions are concerned is the important fact (somewhat alluded but explicit in this article) that Cisco currently does NOT have the Optics platform to incorporate technologies like Core-Tek or Xros EVEN IF IT HAD DECIDED to buy these types of R&D companies.

You can't buy a company who's just invented a better tire for your racing car when you don't have the Chassis and the Engine to begin with!!!

Give CSCO credit for at least understanding that much and not wasting $$$ like they have with Monterey and Cerent.........lack of in-house R&D capability will hurt CSCO severely as the technology for networking becomes ever more complex.

Like I said many times, NT's real threat will be Lucent and ALA on a going-forward basis and CSCO will be marginalized to the edge where they belong.

Good Luck Cisco followers.
