Well, I do not know the sociological data, but I do know my experience, and tolerance has been the norm, not the exception. In fact, when I run into evangelicals at conservative functions, I ordinarily have no occasion to go into my elaborate background, so with a Yiddish surname and un- German features, it is taken for granted that I am Jewish. I have never encountered anti- semitism, with one exception: a black conservative whose diction indicated that he had pulled himself out of the ghetto. This comports with sociological data that shows that among white Christians there is little residual anti- semitism, but among blacks it has grown.........
