QCOM--Peregrine Systems(R) Selected by QUALCOMM As Standard for New Business Initiatives Employee Self Service Suite Adds Strategic Value to Asset Management
PR NEWSWIRE - April 12, 2000 09:00
SAN DIEGO, Apr 12, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Peregrine Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRGN), the leading provider of Infrastructure Management software and e-Infrastructure solutions, today announced that QUALCOMM (Nasdaq: QCOM) has chosen to standardize on Peregrine Systems solutions for infrastructure management. QUALCOMM will deploy ServiceCenter(R) and AssetCenter(TM) as well as Peregrine Systems new employee self service suite Get.It!(TM) This powerful solution promises to deliver total lifecycle management for all IT assets including the benefits of Get.Resources!(TM), Peregrine's new e-procurement offering.

QUALCOMM had long been challenged with the task of integrating its service desk with asset management to increase operational efficiency. The combination of ServiceCenter and AssetCenter will proactively manage all of QUALCOMM's IT assets throughout their lifecycles, including maintenance, service and repair. Using Peregrine Systems IT Infrastructure Management ROI Calculator, QUALCOMM CIO Norm Fjeldheim was able to recognize the benefits associated with this type of infrastructure management investment. He saw the addition of Peregrine Systems e-procurement application Get.Resources! as a strategic value add.

"We investigated other solutions but none were mature enough to cost-justify. There was no link between the procurement process and asset management and no demonstrable ROI," he said. "Peregrine Systems solutions were the first we've seen to provide a cost-effective, seamless process for the management of assets from procurement through retirement."

Also included in the Get.It! suite are Get.Answers!(TM) and Get.Service!(TM) With these applications, QUALCOMM's employees will be able to quickly and easily help themselves to the information or service they need to get their jobs done.

"By combining our infrastructure management and e-business applications, we are excited to deliver QUALCOMM a complete solution to support their rapid global expansion," said Douglas Powanda, executive vice president of worldwide operations, Peregrine Systems. "With the robust combination of our Get.It! applications and our full asset management and service desk suites, QUALCOMM will be able to deliver an expanded menu of service offerings while reducing overall costs. We look forward to working with one of our neighbors in San Diego."

CREE's acquisition of Nitres is an excellent move further strengthening its position as number one in the compound semi industry. CREE reports tomorrow after the close. If NAZ improves, CREE will really run today. If not, then it won't hold up to the downward pressure.
