They are hoping to wash it out so they can buy...and pick up anything that dives with it...
These brokerage houses are ruthless and care only about comission generation.

dbf, re: slow PC sales

I listened to Sherlun this morning on CNBC. What he said was that PC sales were, as expected, slow in Jan/Feb, because of Y2K. That the increase in March wasn't as fast as they had expected. So the press reports slow computer sales when what he said was that the growth was slower than what GS expected.

Does it make any sense? I don't think so. Intel has been capacity constrained, either they have really screwed up their yields or the demand is very healthy. Intel says it's demand, I believe them.

Is it a pile on for MSFT? A cynic might wonder about GS short positions in tech stocks. At any rate, I picked up a few MSFT leaps this morning.
