Greg,

Agree with you on your previous post about the MM's making money on the volatility. On the issue of the pro's taking as much risk and being on the same side - don't think that is necessarily true. In fact, unless you are sitting at home at your terminal watching L2 all day long or you can see all the bid/ask at the open and trade blocks at negotiated prices before the open, I don't think there is much of a comparison. Your MM, broker, trading desk etc. will often be trading in the opposite direction (eg. short when you are long). I was told by a trader that in this market, if you don't have a volatility x volume mark you have a stock that is considered dead money.
