I think the closing value of the VIX is important... close above 30 shows some capitulation. But I also think we are in dangerous territory and sell the rallies...

Actually, the VIX stayed above 30 for almost 2 months from Aug 98-Nov 98. And what was a great buying opp. I'm looking for a spike into the 50's for making some buys.
