William: AMD $1.15 versus est. $.58 cents with positive forward guidance. You have to be picky these days.

William,

I only said that last Tuesday was a wake-up call that has made me turn bearish on tech.

I did not say that trading works better than holding. Trading is a loser's game for most people, including fund managers. Buy and hold is usually a better approach, but very few have applied this approach successfully to technology stocks. One problem is tech stock volatility. Another is tech leadership transience.

By definition, technology is a dynamic sector. This means much disruption and unpredictability. The veterans, like Andy Grove, run scared all the time. The novices are brash and daring. And only fools heed the call of sell-side analysts.
