scarecrow, i read on rb somewhere that tokyojoe is supposed to be on tv tomorrow night to give his spin on the market. first, can you verify this? second, if true, is it not a sign of capitulation? shouldn't we all give up on equities and get into bonds when tokyojoe/tokyomex becomes a talking head?

I think at this point there's no more sense in trying to catch the bottom, 'cause nobody knows when that will happen. The situation brought out by the 'new economy' is also new, so no TA, sentiment reading, etc., work. It's ok to take and realize a loss, just make sure you are still in the game no matter what. And last, take care of your health; no amount of money is important than that.

Scarecrow,
this market reminds me of the Fall of 1998 when I made my purchases of CMGI, CSCO, and EMC. As far as I remember, September, October, and I think first part of November were tough. Then... everybody knows what happened then. I think the Naz is trying to find the base around 4000 which is a good thing, because the Naz really blew from 2300s through 3000 to 4000 without any major retests. IMO the market will go in waves, with 4800 and 3500 being their top and bottom points...

I am glad I am not on margin, so I can afford to hold and wait here, although it has been tough watching POTENTIAL profits erode. But I still have tremendous profits from 1999... yet...

I think it is really important for everybody to manage expectations and greed. Everybody should ask the question: "what return would make me happy?" For me the answer is 30-50 percent, everything above that is pure gravy...

Just some thoughts after I read Zen's post...

P.S. For some reason I still think Naz will be 5000-5500 by the end of the year which BTW would be about 25-35% gain and CMGI will hit 250...
