Nasdaq and P/Es

I read somewhere that the P/E of CSCO is somewhere in the mid 100's both trailing and forward looking. Naturally this P/E is based upon growth expectations and willingness to buy.

But looking at growth which for CSCO is pegged at 28% you don't come up with a P/E like this. It has to be something else.

I think it is betting on market dominance of a significant market niche.

The message for Novell is pretty clear. The company must define a market niche in which it can be dominant. AND it has to get there first with the best technology.

That is why I endorse the Internet Operating System approach taken by Drew.

This is not to say there is anything wrong with the partnership Novell announced with SUnW and others to demo a fully integrated directory based applkcations platform for the internet in which DirCommerce, eDirectory etc. are all put together so people can see how the plumbing works.

But that type of sale will have to be by Novell's consulting group.

The type of sales Drew's IOS can get are another level of magnitude greater.

No one has an IOS. This is CSCO's territory. There is no Microsoft here. CSCO now has a compelling reason to look at NOVL.
