I agree with you. From the posts here, I can see that a whole lot of people own a whole lot of call options. One even said that he owned something like 400 call options. That is something that worries me.With option expiration only a week away, there may be an aggressive attempt to let those options expire worthless.

Chuk,

Saying AMD should be overvalued because the other companies are overvalued is a terrible way to look at things

I think AMD can earn $6 reasonably safely, probably even without opening the Dresden Fab. Based on this, if you apply fairly conservative multiple of say 20 to 25, you still get $120 to $150, so the stock still has a way to go to reach a fair valuation.

Chuck,

Your attitude seems a little harsh tonite. Yes, there is a lot speculation going on but its fairly harmless and its coming off the energy of a great earnings report. Enjoy it; tomorrow we face the cold reality of the markets.

Having said that, I agree with the thread that AMD is undervalued....not compared to the net or momentum stocks but compared to the S&P. Assuming an EPS of 3.50 to 4, I do not think a stock price of $120 to $140 is out of the question.....remember not only is AMD experiencing accelerating earnings but its revenue growth YOY is up there....75% and should remain there until Q4, 2000. Unusual for a mature company.

Maybe we won't see $300 but $75 will be a distant memory wherever we end up.

JMHO.

Re: Saying AMD should be overvalued because the other companies are overvalued is a terrible way to look at things...

Hi Chuck,

I really don't think that's what needs to happen. Things are looking good for AMD to gain a reasonably sized share of the corporate market in the second half. In such a case, their costs would remain the same, but their revenues would double (due to the higher ASPs in that market - an extra $200 for a machine that has an additional 6 months to a year of productive life as an asset is a no-brainer). AMD could (not will, but more likely than not) be looking at $2.5 Billion dollar revenue quarters with costs not much greater than they are now. Quarterly earnings per share would be in the area of $6. What, these days, is a decent P/E for a stock that isn't overvalued? 12? 12 * 6 * 4 = $288. ($280 was my guess for a year end stock price posted on January 3 of this year - I still think that's pretty much a minimum)

Regards,

Dan
