b4q, Thanks for the compliment. I get very few. I am known as a certified curmudgeon around here. Some folks are given no choice but to retire with whatever limited means they can scrounge up. I was an officer in a corporation, which was sold in 85 after I had been there for 32years, and began looking for another job. At my age, no matter what I applied for, I was "over-qualified". That's another phrase for too old. It didn't matter that I told them I would do almost anything to keep busy. Can you imagine someone at 57 working security at Circus-Circus in Reno for $5.25 an hour? It wouldn't be so bad flipping the burgers but, they won't even let us do that. Might drop one, you know. The older people I have seen at the fast food joints either work the cash register (not bad), or are sweeping the floor. At super markets, they are relegated to being bag boys. With such a, supposed, shortage of workers, it is ashame that employers do not realize that older folks can bring a lot of experience, loyalty, and a good work ethic to their operation. Most of us grew up with the idea that it was not good, or proper, to jump jobs at a moment's notice. We took pride in tenure. Oh, well, those are the days of the past. ~H~
