SNIP of REDBACK COUNTER:

Larry Blair, VP of marketing for Redback: It
doesn't matter if it's based on a Commodore 64. We've got over 1800 of these
puppies out there, and that's what matters. Blair argues that the hardware
used to develop a subscriber management system is of far less consequence
than the software that it's running. He may have a point. Simply, hardware
dictates how fast a product will run, but software dictates how smart it is, and
how many value-added functions such as service provisioning capabilities it
can support. Redback has a big lead over its competitors in software.

Anyone have any comments on this "software versus hardware" debate?
