I think someone at CNBC misread the Merrill report.

I'd agree that CNBC often (probably almost always) misreads reports, but yesterday Merrill pulled back the early version of the SUNW report and reissued it with revisions.

This year Milunovich isn't really pumping SUNW ahead of earnings. Last year he did and then downgraded them (much to his regret) after they reported.

... you are probably correct about "lackluster" being incorrectly applied to SUNW rather than IBM ... where it was likely targeted ...

... if I remember correctly, the report about the ML comments quickly moved on to what Steve M thought about IBM.
