NEW YORK, April 13 (Reuters) - Several U.S. brokerages raised their earnings estimates, price targets or ratings Thursday on computer chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. after the company reported strong earnings that exceeded Wall Street forecasts.
-- Goldman Sachs analyst Joe Moore said he raised the 2000 earnings estimate for the company to $4 per share from $2.08 per share.
-- said he raised the 2001 EPS estimate to $2.85 from $2.00.
-- Merrill Lynch analyst Joe Osha raised his 2000 EPS estimate to $5.62 from $2.66.
-- Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown analyst Erika Klauer raised her rating on the company to buy from market perform, citing increased confidence the company can execute in both manufacturing and new product introductions.
-- said the company's yield problems are behind it and the transition to smaller line widths is moving ahead of schedule.
-- set a 12-month price target of $125 a share and set a 2000 EPS estimate of $4.79 and 2001 estimate of $5.00.
-- Chase Hambrecht & Quist raised its price target to $150 from $85 for the company. >
-- Shares of Advanced Micro rallied in early trade 11-7/8 to 75-1/8.

They should definitely take out all profits Intel makes on it's portfolio. After all, it's a CHIP company, stupid! Then, all revenue from PIII should be disregarded because, after all, it is an aging core which has no future and any revenue from it will not be repeated next quarter. We don't need to discuss any revenue from any chip >700mhz since Intel doesn't even make them. Then, of course, we should eliminate all earnings from the Celeron from consideration since the segment it serves is a lowly one compared to the segment served by the Athlon.
Let's see. . . .That leaves us with negative earnings! And we haven't even talked about flash, mobos etc. Congrats! You have just put Intel out of business!
