My main concern is public safety. Whatever it costs it should be spent to prevent anyone else being victimized.

Why should society approve of paying the cost of keeping a murderer in housing, clothing, food, not to mention all the frills of the current prisons which include internet access, work out facilities, even getting paid for work. If I remember right it cost something like 18K a year just to keep one prisoner?

Recently I read $48k. That may have been for federal though.

It has always been the dream of those who wish to enslave people (like you) to make money out of slaves or prisoners. One thing the market shows us -- if anyone could make money out of slaves we'd still have them everywhere. Free labor markets are best way of exploiting workers imaginable. Tell everyone its their responsibility to support themselves, make them go to school and college and learn, if they are too dumb, or sick, or old, just let them starve to death or shoot them if they turn to crime. There is no other place in the world in which it is easier to survive. Millions pour across our borders to get a piece off the bottom of the cake.
