Citrix Systems Inc. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (CTXS: news, msgs) , wants
to juice up the computer networks of Asia. And the sweet deal to
underpin the regional expansion it's looking for centers on plans to acquire
PowerTel Boca Ltd., an erstwhile modem maker in India that has
transformed itself into an Internet services company. Citrix won't say what
it's willing to pay to make Bangalore-based PowerTel Boca a wholly
owned subsidiary. The deal, which has been given a green light from the
Indian agency in charge of foreign investment, still awaits approval of
approval from the central Reserve Bank of India.
